What is Social Emotional Competence (SEC)?
Social–emotional competencies are learned, observable behaviours that shape how we understand, manage, and express emotions—driving effective performance and healthy relationships.
It helps us to understand and navigate our own thoughts and feelings and its effect on our actions, increase job performance and wellbeing and helps to prevent psychological distress.
The theory of SEC is informed by social emotional learning and incorporates emotional intelligence and social skills training.
